POLICE DIG CAUGHT 'RED-HANDED' WITHOUT DRIVING LICENSE

DATED 18 MAY ,2005........DIG Gopal Man Shrestha of the Armed Police Force (APF) was caught red-handed by a Japanese volunteer traffic instructor driving without a license on
Wednesday, reports said.
Japanese traffic instructor Kiyoshi Baba who is in Kathmandu to teach the traffic police about traffic rules caught the DIG violating the traffic signal. DIG Shrestha was crossing the Naya Baneswor intersection ignoring the red light when the Japanese volunteer stopped him and demanded his driving license, reports said.
Despite frequent requests of Baba, Shrestha failed to provide him his driving license. Shrestha instead asked Kiyoshi to get into his government-plated vehicle saying he would talk about the matter in his office. Baba, however, refused but told the traffic policeman to ask Shrestha for his driving license.
The pedestrians had cheered and encouraged the Japanese volunteer for his bold step.Meanwhile, Kiyoshi Baba has expressed deep astonishment for the violation
from a man of that level, reports said.
